lipsticks.jpg

Ok, I'm an artist so I like color and that is why I carry 9 tubesof assorted lipsticks in my purse and I probably have about 40 or so more at home in my makeup case. My favorite one is the Cover Girl Wetslicks in Plum Splash. It taste good too.

Even though I'm a graphic artist by profession, I secretly long to be a makeup artist as well.

Halloween is coming...

Every year for Halloween I do a Halloween picture finder.

This year's idea is a children's Halloween party.
Here, is a preliminary sketch.

Most of the time, I start my illustrations right on the computer. This time, I decided to sketch my drawing out on tracing paper. As I tighten my sketches, I just overlay another piece of tracing paper.

Inside my art bin...

I had this art bin since my college days. And some of the stuff in it is also from those days.

One of my favorite items in this bin is my craft puncher, it's that pink circular thing in the bottom tray. I have used that countless times for different crafts and projects.

I also love my watercolor crayon set. They look like crayons, but when you add water they turn into watercolors.

I use this case when I want to travel light. I store my paint brushes in this case, because it can accomodate my longer brushes.

Christmas is soon coming, so I decided to start on my Christmas gifts early. My goal is to turn out three paintings for various family members. No, I'm not cheap, it's just my parents, and grandparents already have everything and I know they'll appreciate these paintings more, unless they turn out crappy...

Oooh one more thing, if you look at the top left corner you can spot one of my four cats, her name is Sparkles and she is a fiesty little lady, Actually, she is not that little she's the fattest of the bunch, but she has a tiny head...meow...

Funny bird

I just drew this bird for some reason, he just popped into my head.

My friend Christine sent me her pictures of our chalk drawing.

Here is the begining stage. I'm blending the the yellow and orange colors to create a smooth blend. This took some time getting the blends even and consistent with one another.

I'm working on another section of the drawing. Our technique for the drawing was starting in the center and working our way out. We would also lay down the color first and then add the black borders. I used a squirt bottle occassionally to dampen the chalk, this makes the chalk heavier when wet and less like to blow around.

Almost done, I think we ended up having about 30 minutes to spare at the end.

Here are some pictures of the other Chalk drawings. A great variety and great competition of art styles.

This chalk drawing was my personal favorite. The artist who created this, said he likes putting a smile on people's faces.

This photo is funny, because my 3-year-old decided he wanted to be in the picture, so he took a short cut across the chalk drawing.

I had a lot of fun drawing with chalk and just spending the day with one of my closest friends...

We are already talking about next year's Chalk Walk idea.

Chalk It Up

I spent about 7 grueling hours on Saturday drawing in chalk. My good friend, Christine and I participated in this year's Chalk Walk Festival sponsored by YorkArts in conjunction with YorkFest. Participants must pre-register to compete in this annual competition, but is open to anyone that loves to draw and have fun. Back to the contest.
Here is a picture of the drawing in its early phase.

I think, it was about two years ago my girlfriend, Christine and I decided to enter the Chalkwalk festival, which is part of Yorkfest. We hit the pavement around 9:30 a.m. and were out there till, I think about 4pm creating our design. We are both fans of children stories so we decided to do Hansel and Gretel. We didn't win and thats another story. All I can say is, we were robbed.

But on a lighter note I had a lot of fun drawing and hanging out with one of my closest friends.

Here are the pics from three years ago.

I have been a fan of the Simpsons since I first saw them on the Tracey Ullman show. Bart had twice as many spikes and Marge's hair was still big and blue.

At simpsonizeme.com, you too can become yellow just like your favorite Simpsons character.
