January 2008 Archives

I've become a Youtube junkie, but in a good way. I've been going to Youtube for tutorial videos on everything from using my new sewing machine to learning tricks in Adobe Illustrator CS3.

So, watching these Youtube videos I got to thinking I'd like to create some of my own tutorials when I'm in Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop, Flash and so on. To do this you need what's called a desktop recorder. There are a ton out there, which half of them suck.

I found one through YouTube called Screencast, but now it's called Screenflick by a company called http://www.araelium.com/.

I downloaded the demo version to test it. So far so good. It's extremely easy to use and the coolest part is that you can compress your files multiple ways and times.

Here's my first desktop recording, courtesy of Youtube. Note this is using the demo version of Screenflick and that is why there is an obtrusive watermark in the middle of the screen.

Indiana Jones returns

| | Comments (1)

I am a huge Indiana Jones fan. And on May 22,2008 Indiana Jones returns to the big screen after 19 years.

So with that said I am "Jonesing" to do a movie page.
Here's, my quick sketch

I then, scan the sketch and bring it into Adobe Illustrator, where I do my illustration.

There is still a lot more work to be done before this page is completed so stay tuned in and I'll keep you posted with my progress.

Here's a good link to the artist I talked about yesterdayhttp://venus.oracchi.com/Illustrator/

Here's a sample of his work.

You won't believe your eyes when you see Yukio's work. He pushes the limit when it comes to Illustrator.

The fun you can have with some cardboard and duct tape.
Take, for instance this weekend, around 6 p.m., William looks over at me and says what if I made Vincent a tank out of cardboard? Now, there is something you need to know about my husband, whenever he decides to build something it turns out to be this huge production. I said sure but you'll need to get it finish before Vincen't bedtime, which is around 7:30p.m.

So for the first time in a couple of years I actually had New Years party plans. My husband, William, and I went to a Prom theme New Years party. The best part I got to wear my wedding dress again.
