Trying a different medium: Cut paper illustration for business story

I wanted to do something different for my next illustration. I decided to try cut paper.

The story is about finding good deals and becoming a savvy social shopper.

Here is the illustration

It's not quite finish, but it's close. I first cut the woman out of cardboard then use colored construction paper for the clothing and pocketbook. I threaded some small beads to create her necklace and tied a pink ribbon in her hair. The details were drawn with a black ink pen. The boxes in the cart are various empty jewelry boxes that I wrapped with paper that have the different web logos on them. The web logos were drawn in Adobe Illustrator and then printed on plain paper.

And I know the question you are all asking. Where did the small shopping cart come from? I bought it several years ago at Target. Sadly, Target does not sell the shopping cart. But, you can still purchase the cart online at kitchencollection.com
