Audrey Hepburn as vector art

| | Comments (2)

Again, I'm not sleepy so I decided to work some more on my vector art of Audrey Hepburn...hpict6.jpg

And another look at the art with added details.hpict7.jpg

The highlights and shadows are a combination of the gradient mesh tool, gradients and blends. I did use the blur filter on the shadow behind her pearl necklace.

Greener York

Here is a pencil sketch I did for a story about recycling centers in the York area.

Again, I scanned the image into photoshop. I set the pencil sketch layer to multiply. I set the sketch layer to multiply so that the white part of image becomes invisible, and allows for me to add color on a layer beneath easily. I also boosted the contrast of the sketch in levels bringing up the shadows, midtones, and holding the highlights. This brought out the texture in my sketch drawing since I was using a regular pencil. Drawing pencils are different, and come in a variety of heavier lead weights so you can add contrast to your sketch drawings. But, I didn't have any drawing pencils on hand, so I made do with what I had.

The final page design is set to print in this Sunday's paper.

I had an illustration request for Martin Luther King Jr. for a Living package that will publish next Tuesday.

Here, is the original pencil sketch.

I then scanned the sketch and brought it into Photoshop CS3. I added several layer effects and filters to give me the final result of illustration you see here.

Every year we do a Prom round-up. And every year we need to design a page for it.
Here, was my first idea I started this about a month ago.

Well, I'm very indecisive, comes with being an artist. Artists are always changing their minds about things.
I love fashion and I love the look of fashion illustrations. So here is my preliminary sketch I did.

I then scanned in my sketch. Resized it and saved it as a BMP and placed into Illustrator CS3. I then used the live trace and did some adjustments and the end result is what you see here.

The return of "Copper"

I'm so psyched, "Copper" has return. I love comic artist Kazu Kibuishi. My favorite, is his series that follows the adventures of a boy and his ever faithful dog companion. I love this comic because of its philosophical undertones mixed with innocense. The artwork is beautiful and simple. One of the best use of colors in a comic I have ever seen.

Halloween is coming...

Every year for Halloween I do a Halloween picture finder.

This year's idea is a children's Halloween party.
Here, is a preliminary sketch.

Most of the time, I start my illustrations right on the computer. This time, I decided to sketch my drawing out on tracing paper. As I tighten my sketches, I just overlay another piece of tracing paper.
