I just finished watching ABC’s special, an interview with Randy Pausch. Who's Randy Pausch, you might ask? He's just an ordinary guy, a father, a husband, a mentor, for me he was a wake up call. The following video is a little over an hour, but well worth the time.

I am a graphic artist by trade, but aspire to stretch my artistic instinct into the realm of makeup artistry.
I love art and I see makeup as another form of art.
The canvas is your skin and like artists there are many tricks, techniques, and tools to use to achieve a certain look.
I bought most of my makeup brushes in art/craft supply stores. They're cheaper for one, and they come in a wide assortment of sizes and textures.

I also found great containers for storing makeup for traveling and for mixing, because artists love mixing their own colors. This Art Bin (yes, it's from an art store) is great for storing makeup and is easy to clean.

My latest find is Almay's Smart Shade Foundation.
Because, its like a chameleon, it really does adapt to your skin tone. Though, I caution you, if you have dark skin, it might not be dark enough.

And speaking of darker skin tones. I love LOreal's HIP Makeup. The pigments are intense and really speak volumes, a makeup artist's dream...

I love ice-tea. I love good packaging. Pom Tea has both.

After you peel off the plastic wrap, you're left with a tall glass and lid. The only markings left on the glass is the Pom tea logo, which in itself is nice design.
Here's to tea time..
I went to Rite-Aid today and left spending about $50. Technically, I bought more than makeup, but like I said in a previous post, I am a sucker for good packaging -- especially when it comes to makeup.

The lime green tube of mascara really caught my eye, compared to the standard black tubes. And I love the chrome top to the eyeshadow, very retro. But my favorite is the blush with its art noveau swirl pattern, it's almost too pretty to use...
Two weekends ago my family and I went to Devil's Den in Gettysburg. This is a great place for the whole family to get a chance to climb on some rocks, get a little history lesson in, and enjoy the outdoors.

Don't the rocks look amazing? I think I might paint a picture from this photo.
This past weekend we went to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. I always loved seeing all the boats floating in the harbor. This is the U.S. Constellation. My husband told our son it was a Pirate ship. And so the whole entire time we were roaming the ship, he kept asking where was the money. I told my son the pirates put their gold in the bank...

I am a makeup, fashion, and product packaging diva. I will buy a pack of gum just for its packaging, especially if it's in a tin container.
Makeup and fashion are my next big inspirations when it comes to my art work/life. The certain color of an eye shadow or a pattern in a skirt can lead to artistic inspiration for me. Sometimes, I just like the way they look and I gotta have it.
Here are a few examples of how art really does imitate life or vice versa...
This is from Smashbox cosmetics.

Here is a lip gloss from Bare Escentuals

Two different styles. But both are equally artistic and eye-catching.
