New Year's greetings from Niagara Falls, Ontario! Can't imagine a more picturesque situation than fireworks over the falls.

Shooting fireworks is easy, especially in the digital age. Most often, set the camera on auto, and shoot away. Tripods are not necessary, because the fireworks are incredibly bright.

But that's the easy part. Snowy conditions complicated the issue, making the falls hazy and unclear. Matching exposures for both the background and the fireworks make a cold night even more exciting.

I exposed for the falls, and took a few quick exposures, realizing that the fireworks were far too bright for the background. So I shot the less brilliant explosions. It's not the perfect solution, but I'd like to hear other solutions.
