The last two weeks' storms have put a burden on us all, including media photographers/videographers trying to find something different but still visually interesting and useful. After all, how many ways can we show someone shoveling out their cars (some are still covered) or sidewalks being cleared (have you been downtown?)
While reporters can get much of their information by telephone, we haven't gotten there yet with photos (although readers submitting their pictures is a great leap toward that end).
So we sometimes just get in the cars and wander throughout the county. Because of the awful roads in rural areas, our photos during the early part of the storm were from near the office, in the city, or near our homes.
Once roads were passable, we hit outside downtown. We found that wind was still threatening roads, the mail carriers were battling snowed-in boxes, and the highway workers were still working to clear the nearly four feet of snow.
And it's beautiful out there.

looks like our mail box here in Syracuse, love your pictures.
