Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area is the perfect place for a nice walk, commune with nature, take pictures and/or watch in awe as thousands after thousands of snow geese and tundra swans crowd into the lake.

Even on Monday, the parking lot was jammed with cars parked along the feeder driveway. I can only imagine Saturday or Sunday's crowds.

As evening fell, swarms of geese came out of the sunset to spend the night in the safety of the water, while a hundred or so birders/photographers/nature lovers wandered to Willow Point. And once the sun did set, only a single star/planet? poked through the orange sky behind the geese.

The star photo was taken with a 400 2.8 lens, 1/60 at 2.8. The crowd was a 17-55 2.8 lens at 1/60 and 2.8.

By the way, I think this is Venus just above the southeast horizon, but I'm not sure. If anyone knows for certain, let me know.

I asked Bonnie and she said "I am no expert, but I am pretty sure it is Venus." I am thinking everyone will agree with you. Nice pics, enjoy reading your blog.
