While it might look like a sure sign of spring, many families--primarily in the Amish-heavy Lancaster area--are hanging out their laundry, and have all winter. Just down the street, another gentleman was mowing his grass, saying it greens up his lawn quicker. As a homeowner at a development entrance, he feels obligated to keep his property neat. Now, that's a sign of spring. He refused to let me take his picture.
This photo, taken near Clay, reminds me of Andrew Wyeth's "Christina's World", with apologies to Wyeth. It wasn't taken with that in mind. Thanks to YDR artist Carrie Hamilton for giving the artist's name. Wyeth did most of his work in Maine, but he died at Chadd's Ford, Pa.
Shot with a 17-55mm lens, f22.
