Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa., is most known for its exquisite flowers, trees and conservatory. Seen widely as one of the country's premier public gardens, Longwood always has plenty going on beyond its greenery.
About 235,000 tulips are now in bloom here, with daffodils not far behind in numbers.
While nearly everyone here has a camera, or so it seems, Sunday was a day for kite fliers. The brisk wind had kites in the air quickly, including four-year old Olivia Massucci's . Her tiny kite, about the size of a large moth, was the hit of the day. It flew surprisingly well.
Everyone should find something here to trip the curiosity switch. Events throughout the year keep the gardens in a constant state of change, except for the first-class style in which the gardens is kept and operated. For a schedule of events, click here.
