I'm lucky.
It's part of my job to blog, search the Internet and read the newspaper.
But I bet lots of people participate in similar activities during their workdays, even if they're not supposed to.

As many as 340 workers at the Johnson & Johnson manufacturing and distribution facilities in Lititz face layoffs within two years, the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal reported Thursday.
The New York Times had an interesting perspective article in Sunday's edition.
Basically, the paper reported, the people we learned about in high school who ran big business before the Great Depression and government regulation (like Rockefeller, Carnegie, etc.) and never thought we'd see the likes of again, are coming back en masse.
When the boss is away, the workers will play. At least here at the York Daily Record/Sunday News they will.
When Living editor Buffy Andrews went on vacation last week, a passel of pernicious people decorated her desk like an aquarium. They hung fish from the ceiling and ensconced the entire cubicle in blue plastic wrap. See the video here.
Have you recently decorated a co-worker’s desk in his or her absence? Tell us about it – and send pictures or video. E-mail Charlotte Tucker at ctucker@ydr.com or send a note and pictures to 1891 Loucks Road, York, PA 17408.
My boss said those words to me last week when it seemed that almost everyone in our office was on vacation. (And he had just returned from one himself. )
We had been talking about the status of a project, a project that seems won't get done until the end of the month because all the players needed to complete it won't be in the office at the same time until then.
And soon after that I'm going on vacation.
