Four minutes can make a difference

| | Comments (0)

I face real terror every weekday.

And it occurs as the clock approaches 5:30 p.m.

My heart starts to pound, and I wonder how I can possibly get all my work done in time to rush out the door, speed through rush-hour traffic on Route 30 and make it to my daughter's daycare before it closes at 6 p.m.

It's been almost a year since I put my daughter in daycare.

And I haven't been late to pick her up yet.

Yet.

But every day I push it. I read one more e-mail. Do one more thing. And before I know it, it's 5:34 p.m.

It's crazy to think that four minutes can make a difference in my day.

I thought it would get easier. But my heart still starts to pound, every day, around 5 p.m.

And I'm sure I'm not the only working mommy or daddy in York County that faces this daily horror.

How do you get through the day?
