Know any of these crazy farmers?

Getting fed up with modern life, going home and starting a farm is hardly something new. John Wayne's character went home to farm in 1952's "The Quiet Man." (My shameless plug for a great Irish movie on this St. Patrick's Day)

But what might be odd today is the number of people doing it.

The New York Times is reporting basically a doubling of the number of down-home organic farms in the Northeast.

They are mostly run by college kids who until a few years ago were doing something that really stuck in my crawl: wearing Carhartts and a trucker hats when they are neither farmers nor truckers.

Today, I stand corrected on these people. As the story says, they are putting their money where their mouths are. Do you know any of these crazy farmers? Because I'd like to meet them.
