Everything I know about work, I learned from Jim Halpert

First and foremost, major props to the Office writers for throwing in a plug for Allentown. I love my hometown representing even if it's only where Jan is going for Lamaze class.

Let's get right down to what we learned this week. Because the episode was an hour long, we've got double the amount of lessons.

Lesson one: Do not leave your cell phone setting on your desk or you may find that all of your calls are being transfered to someone else's phone.

Lesson two: Make sure before you think a new employee is hitting on you a co-worker hasn't told them you have mental disabilities.

Lesson three: Office romance can be dangerous territory. But we learned some good advice from Jim in this episode. Take it slow and don't freak her out by being in her face. (Although it seemed to work for Andy, we all know where Angela's heart really lies.)

Lesson four: When training a new employee, "playful hazing" could be hilarious, i.e. telling her an employee is "slow in the brain" and watching her treat him like a five-year old all day. But it could also go really wrong i.e. putting a raccoon in her car.

Lesson five: It's totally OK to mock the former temp if he gets arrested for fraud and has made your life a living hell the past few months.

Lesson six: All office going away parties should come equipped with a ferris wheel.

As always, I can't catch all the great lessons. Let me know if I missed any others.

A rock is a bad choice for a co-worker's going away present. Always bring a camera to work. Even though Jim and Pam are cute, it's probably better if most of the memorable moments in your life happen outside the office.

If your new HR rep thinks you are "slow," trying to use a button in a vending machine isn't the best way to change their minds?

Don't be mean and tell one of your co-workers that she will never plan office parties again. She might just be the one to walk in on you having "relations" with another co-worker. That's karma.
