Cherry Hill doing something right

I'm usually of the mindset that some of Jersey's beaches are its only redeeming quality so I was surprised this morning to read in the Philadelphia Inquirer about a new recycling program being implemented in Cherry Hill.

The new program called RecycleBank offers incentives for residents to recycle. People earn credits for the number of pounds of recyclable products that are collected each week and the points can be redeemed at stores such as Lowe's, Acme, AMC Theaters, Ikea and ShopRite.

When Cherry Hill tested the program in a few neighborhoods, recycling in those places increased 90 percent.

Part of the reason people seem to like the program (besides the free stuff) is that they don't have to separate anything. It all goes in the same blue container provided by the company.

Would you be more willing to recycle if York offered a similar program with incentives?

Thanks to the Philly Inquirer for the photo.
