I went to see the new Disney/Pixar flick Wall-E this weekend with some friends of mine from college, and I'll be honest, I really didn't know what to expect.

I'd seen the trailer and still couldn't figure out what exactly the movie was supposed to be about, but my friends were all going so I tagged along.

Best. Decision. Ever.

I loved the social commentary about how Americans are getting fatter by the minute and are being more wasteful than ever. In Wall-E, the wasteful ways of human beings force them to abandon Earth to go live on a spaceship for five years while robots clean up after them.

Well five years turns into 700 years, and while on the spaceship the people get fatter and more wasteful.

The basic message: We should stop being slobs and polluting the Earth and learn some social responsibility.

Overall, Wall-E was a great entertaining kids' movie, but the broader social message was definitely evident. It's worth the cost to check it out.
