Businesses go smoke free on Thursday

ashtray - Google Image Search.jpgThe smoking ban goes into effect Thursday, meaning many local businesses will be snuffing out smoke for the first time.

I've got two-part question for you all.

What do you think about the smoking ban? Excited? Angry? Indifferent?

And if you're a business owner going smoke free for the first time, what kinds of changes do you have to make? And what do you plan to do with all of your ashtrays? Seriously, that's so random, but I'm really curious.

Elated! It's finally happening. It is unsettling though to read in YDR's "Exchange" the illogical arguments people post about yet another of their "rights" being taken away from them. One poster showed his anger by typing his hateful post in the largest font possible, in all caps & in red. People can argue themselves into oblivion why the smoking ban is a bad thing, but it's not going to change one thing. Smoking is bad--it's a killer. Aside from that people who smoke stink, their smoke fouls the air and everything it lands on.
Non-smokers are very much in favor of this law because they intensley dislike the smokers' stench, they dislike smoked-covered food, they dislike the smokers who prepare and handle that food and they prefer to lead a healthier life style.

I think it is fantastic, and find it funny that many smokers will not even smoke in their own homes, or admit to how bad it is. yet so many more tell people who want to go out and eat or drink to stay home. Next time you sit at a traffic light, look to the curb and see how it is littered with cig butts. So many smokers are inconsiderate and now I am glad to see them get inconvenienced!
