Sheetz pump first cards

| | Comments (1)

Has anyone used the Pump First cards at Sheetz since they were introduced locally a few weeks ago?

They are geared toward people who like to pay for their gas in cash. You have to register your name, address and driver's license information in the store to get the card the first time.

After that you swipe the card and pump and pay like you normally would.

Sheetz is hoping to cut down on theft with the introduction of the cards, but I'm really curious what people think of them. I rarely pay for my gas with cash, so I don't have one.

Here's how the PumpFirst cards work:

To get a card, you will need either a valid driver's license or military license. The cashier will swipe your license through the system and then will issue you a PumpFirst card loaded with your driver's license info. The process takes less than 30 seconds. Getting the card is a one time process.

It's a really good set-up. Before you pump, insert and remove the card just like a credit card, pump your fuel, then go inside the store to pay as you did before. For those who drive away without paying, your PumpFirst card ID # will be given to the legal department for further action.
