Are people loosening their purse strings?

| | Comments (1)

As gas prices start to drop have you noticed or overheard people talking about loosening the purse strings?

It seems like now that gas is below three dollars some people seem to think it's cheap and are going back to their old, less restrictive habits.

I know I'm still trying to cut back. One big thing I do is limit the amount of days I go out for lunch. I try to pack at least four days each week.

Have you noticed anyone loosening the purse strings lately?

It would seem you are correct that at least some people are going back to their old driving habits, not that many ever changed. Driving down I83 the past few days the average speed appears to have gone back up to about 90 mph! But don't be fooled by any loosening of the purse strings--now we have heating bills to contend with and, as we all know, they're going to be higher this year than almost anytime in the past. And I for one am not holding out that gas prices will stay lower for very long, particularly after that announcement today from OPEC.
