Cheap gas news spreads fast

| | Comments (2)

In the newsroom Friday morning, it first started with a phone call from one our correspondents, Greg Gross. "Hey, did you see that gas is at $2.99?" he said.
I hadn't noticed. But I've been on alert for awhile when it started creeping closer to $3.

We got the Web updated with the gas information, and the word was out. Brent, one of our reporters, confirmed other gas store prices while heading out of work and into a vacation. He called me from his car, told me there was a line at one of the stations because of the price. He then became a customer too, waiting to fill up.
Hearing my phone conversation, another co-worker ran out the door and waited in line at the Kenneth Road Rutter's too. She told me she called her husband to spread the cheap gas news.
Commenters on our Exchange board either rejoiced at the news or cursed it because they had just filled up on gas.
I plan to take advantage of the cheap gas too. Right after I get off work.

Be thankful we don't live in DC! On the way out late this afternoon on upper northwest Conn. Ave. all the gas signs read in the high $3.60s for regular. Crossing over into MD it was a little lower.

Thanks for the comment, Jo.

We took a bit of road trip this weekend around Md. and Adams County and noticed gas was still in the $3-plus range outside of York County. After Friday, most all the stations in York County were $2.99 or lower.
