In Thursday's paper, Sean Adkins reports on the closings of Tyco Electronics' Emigsville and Carlisle plants.

An interesting side note to all of this: Sean spoke with some of Tyco's neighbors in Emigsville, who say that their businesses may be hurt by Tyco's closing.

"We have not taken an order from them in a while," said Jen Demmitt (pictured at left), co-owner of My Favorite Deli in Emigsville.

In other news, embattled consignment store owners have a new advocate: six U.S. Representatives from Pennsylvania.

The group of congressmen includes York County Republican Todd Platts.

The store owners are worried about the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, set to take effect next month, which mandates that all products intended for children 12 and younger contain fewer than 600 parts per million total lead.

Consignment store owners won't have to test each product they sell, but will still be required to ensure that their products meet the new lead requirements. Platts says that standard is "unrealistic."
