In the topic of "we probably have too much time on our hands and should be doing more work," I was chatting with the biz folks today about cell phone voicemail.
A pet peeve of mine is having to listen to long voicemail messages.
You know the ones:
"Hi, you've reached the voicemail of (insert name here) and I can't take your phone call right now, but your message is very important to me. Please leave your name and number and I'll call you back as soon as I can. Have a wonderful day."
Pleasant, but too long.
Keep the messages short. I think my personal cell phone message is: "This is Cathy, please leave a message."
Just right.
Okay, back to work.

How about this message:
"Hello. How may I help you? Hello? Hello? Just kidding. Leave a message at the beap."
Sean, I hate that one!
I also hate the automated ones that repeat things like "press one to leave a message or just wait for the beep ... when you hear the beep, leave a message ... when you're finished, hang up or press ..."
Too long!
