Bistro 19 opening date unclear

The building at 19 N. George St. in downtown York would house its third restaurant in less than five years if Bistro 19 opens up this month, as it is scheduled to do.

A press release from the new restaurant's owners, Ryan McKinley and Steve Reynolds, says Bistro 19 will be open for brunch on Easter Sunday, April 12.

In interviews Monday, however, both McKinley and Reynolds would not commit to a specific opening date.

"There's still litigation going on," McKinley said.

He's referring to a court battle between the last restaurant's owners, Mary Beth Peters and Bill Bennawit, and their landlord, Randall Hirsch.

For more on that dispute, check out the story in today's Daily Record.

McKinley added: "We are just projecting we'll be open this month."

Bistro 19 will be looking to hire between 15 and 20 people to fill its kitchen and wait staff, McKinley said.

The press release states that Bistro 19 will offer "American/French cuisine in an elegant casual atmosphere."

Also, "a menu of dishes to delight the fussiest of palates and wallets" will be available, according to the release.
