A moment of enlightenment

light.jpegFor nearly a week, my wife complained about a busted left turn signal on her Chevy Cavalier.

I had no idea what was wrong with it, and, like many people, I took it to a mechanic to diagnose the problem.

However, I pulled up to repair shop at around 4 p.m. Sunday and was informed that the place was going to close and I'd have to come back some other time.

My first thought was that the recession must not be too bad if businesses are turning away customers.

My second thought was that maybe, must maybe, I could fix it myself and save some cash.

I headed to the auto supply store, picked up a new bulb, cracked open the Cavalier's owner's manual and went to work.

Within minutes I had the turn signal working and the job had cost me $3.99 for the bulb.

I think I'll take on more do-it-yourself projects. Thanks Mr. Mechanic.
