Budgeting before vacation.

Every few months or so, I go through our monthly personal budget. We have weekly bills, monthly bills, quarterly bills and annual bills. We try to stay on track, but life happens.

Part of the "fun" of budgeting is saving for vacation.

Just having returned from vacation, that savings had been recently depleted.

This vacation we tucked away money since January to help pay for it. Every two weeks we put money aside for our trip. But, like most vacations, we probably spent more than we should have. And, I can't say we didn't use our credit card at all on vacation -- something we try not to do -- but we didn't abuse the card and we have a short-term plan for paying it off.

My question is, how do you budget for a vacation? Do you end up over-spending, or sticking to your plan? What are your secrets?

In the photo is my son on the beach in Florida. :-)
