I'll be the first to admit it. I yelled that in the newsroom last week after I read the headline Wednesday night on a York County DA news release. Here's Rebecca LeFever's story on it.
I had no idea they were illegal and from the reaction of others in the newsroom -- well, those who actually knew what a quarter auction is -- they were in the same boat as I was.
It is kind of a shame. The auctions are fun and they provide a good fundraising source for charity. I'm wondering what other creative ways are out there to make up for that lost fundraising revenue?
And please don't tell me to sell sandwiches or candy bars.
