Weis Markets recently started another of its "price freeze" programs, according to the company's website.

The freeze covers more than 1,000 items throughout the store, Weis said, and stays in effect for 90 days.

Weis froze prices for the first time in early 2009, when the United States was mired in economic recession. The company was looking for ways to help its customers "creatively save money," company spokesman Dennis Curtin said at the time.

The company has rolled the promotion out several times since then.
