A high for the YCI

| | Comments (0)

The York County Index saw a high since we started keeping track of it in November 2009, hitting the $33.34 mark Tuesday.

This comes amid good news as everyday investors are piling back into stocks.

Actually, since last boasting about the YCI here on February 2, the average of the 26 local stocks we keep track of everyday on our Money & More page has been increasing impressively, especially considering its growth just over the last month. Take a look:

  • Tuesday 2/1/2011: The YCI closed at $32.19.
  • Tuesday, 3/8/2011: The YCI closed at $33.34, up $1.15, or about 3.5 percent.

How's that compare to the Dow?

  • Tuesday 2/1/2011: The Dow closed at $1,2040.16
  • Tuesday, 3/8/2011: The Dow closed at $1,2214.38, up $174.22, or about 1.45 percent.

Again, like last month, the YCI is growing a few more percentage points better than its Uncle Dow.

While both have grown since then, the ride there hasn't exactly been a smooth one. Both hit highs for the year on February 18, but took a few hits along the way. Take a look at the graphs below.

  • Here's hoping those lines keep moving upward.
