Big news out of Delaware for anyone here who has ever been annoyed by a stink bug.

U.S. Department of Agriculture researchers there are raising parasitic wasps in quarantine that they believe can destroy up to 80 percent of the stink bug population, the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday. Stink bugs have been a big problem for people in York County.

The wasps hunt down and inject their offspring into stink bug eggs, the story said. The offspring then grow into adults, chew their way out and hunt for more stink bug eggs. This process should help farmers, the story said, who have seen their crops decimated by stink bugs.

The USDA hopes to have authorization to release the wasps into the environment in 2013, the story said.
