Gas price news takes turn for the better

| | Comments (0)

The news about gas prices has taken a turn for the better for consumers.

The Associated Press reported recently that analysts expect prices to drop by 50 cents a gallon by June. This comes on the heels of a 91-cent increase in the national average since January, the AP reported.

A 50-cent drop would take the national average down to somewhere in the neighborhood of $3.40 or $3.50. That's still significantly higher than it was in June 2010, when it hovered around the $2.70 range, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

Here in the York area, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was about $3.87 Tuesday morning, AAA said. The cheapest place to buy gas locally as of Tuesday morning was the Sam's Club at 2801 E. Market St., Springettsbury Township, which offered regular gallons for $3.76, according to yorkgasprices.com.

Several other gas stations offered regular gallons for as low as $3.79, the website said.
