Coordinator: York brewpub nearing completion

Mudhook Brewing Co., a new brewery and brewpub planned for Central Market's 34 N. Cherry Lane property, is moving toward completion, marketing coordinator Kate Wheeler told me Monday.

The brewpub has its sights set on an early July opening, Wheeler said, but has not set a definite date yet.

Regardless, excitement about the brewpub remains high locally. Think Drink, a local group, visited Mudhook Monday and posted a number of photos from the visit to its Facebook page. You can check them out here.

Mudhook plans to offer several regular beers and a seasonal beer, as well as burgers, specialty hot dogs, appetizers and desserts.

The company has been close to opening for a while, but weather- and equipment-related delays have held it back. A couple months ago, the pressure vessel on Mudhook's boiler was found to be leaking, which delayed its work.

The company has regretted not being able to open sooner, Wheeler said. More than 700 people "like" Muhook on Facebook. Many of them have been asking for regular updates.

While the process has been slow but steady, Wheeler said, the brewpub is "thrilled that so many people are looking forward to our opening."
