Another famous singer’s death propels album sales

It’s an interesting trend made we’re made aware of every time a beloved singer passes away. Their album and song sales surge to the top of the charts.

This weekend, Whitney Houston was no exception.

Sunday night, the troubled songstress’ song “I Will Always Love You” was number one on iTunes, and two of her albums were in the top ten.

Maybe it’s the tributes and newscasts that jog our memories and remind us how much we love “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

Or maybe it’s to give us a little comfort as we realize that Amy Winehouse or Michael Jackson will never have that great comeback we were hoping for, and all we’ll have is “Back to Black” and “Thriller” to remember them by.

I know I bought some of Michael’s music when he died, and I might just have to buy some of Whitney’s music now that I’m thinking about it.

What about you – do you buy the music of recently deceased artists?
