Monday, gas in York average $3.798, according to gas price tracking website, Gasbuddy.com.
That’s pretty expensive, considering just one year ago, it averaged 3.356.
But there is a tiny glimmer of sunshine for York County residents – we are still at least 20 cents a gallon cheaper than the cities that made ABCNews and GasBuddy’s list of the 25 most expensive cities for gas.
Here’s their list:
- Santa Barbara CA – $4.350
- San Francisco CA – $4.346
- Los Angeles CA – $4.330
- San Diego CA – $4.315
- Ventura CA – $4.314
- Orange County CA – $4.312
- Riverside CA – $4.293
- San Jose CA – $4.284
- San Bernardino CA – $4.279
- Oakland CA – $4.276
- Bakersfield CA – $4.276
- Salinas CA – $4.265
- Fresno CA – $4.205
- Stockton CA – $4.201
- Sacramento CA – $4.200
- Honolulu HI – $4.197
- Modesto CA – $4.189
- Chico CA – $4.181
- Anchorage AK – $3.993
- New York City NY – $3.993
- Long Island NY – $3.988
- Medford OR – $3.984
- Seattle WA – $3.962
- Eugene OR – $3.961
- Bridgeport CT – $3.958
Interestingly, their top 18 are pretty much all California cities, with Honolulu thrown in, despite concerns that the closure of East Coast refineries could send this area’s gas prices soaring.
Have you travelled to one of the cities on the list recently? What was the general sentiment from people there?

I posted this to my Facebook page and a couple folks from California commented that they are used to the higher prices. One friend wrote: “Thank God for my Honda Civic”
