That nasty patch of asphalt in the middle of I-83 that once ran 26 miles from the Maryland line to just south of the Strinestown exit?
PennDOT repaired it just last year, but I met with a reader a few weeks ago in Central Market who said that area of the road is cracking again.
He met with me after seeing a blurb in the paper about my desire to meet with people about what’s important to them in their communities.
Driving daily to Maryland from the Leaders Heights exit of I-83, he noticed some issues.
Once you cross the border, he said, the road’s not only cleaner, but also smoother.
Interstate 83 was resurfaced six years ago.
After it began to crack in the passing lane, PennDOT installed “the strip.”
The strip was fixed recently.
But my source says it’s cracking again. It seems like a lot of time, tax dollars and hassle has been spent correcting the problem, he said.
“It just seems to me that we should know how to do this slightly better,” he added.
I haven’t been down that way recently? Do you regularly drive 83 to get to work? Are you noticing what this man is noticing?
