Local chains earn good marks in Consumer Reports

The latest issue of Consumer Reports rates 52 grocery chains and ranks them based on several factors.

Here’s how some chains with local stores did:

Wegmans, which has a store in Mechanicsburg, ranked NUMBER 1 out of all the chains listed, earning top marks for service, perishables and cleanliness.

Giant Food Stores did pretty well, too. It ranked in the top half of grocery stores, earning high marks in perishables, price and cleanliness.

Weis Markets fared a little worse, landing in the bottom 15, but earning high marks for cleanliness – probably the most important category, in my opinion – as well.

Congrats to all the chains for representing the area well!
