How do you spend your holiday budget? Most of mine is earmarked for baby toys

In May, my wife and I adopted our daughter, Emily.

Before we became parents, we would start the holiday season by establishing a budget on how much each of us would spend on the other.

It wasn’t like we sat down with a calculator and created a budget with the help of our latest bank statement. Far from it. It was more like, “Hey Christine, how much are you spending on me this year?”

This holiday season, our holiday budget is a bit tight with little room for error.

That brings me to my problem. How much do I spend on my wife?

Would it be better to mutually decide that we’re going to get each other a few small things and use most of our budget on Emily? That plan makes the most sense.

What do you think?
