What restaurants would you like to see in York County?

Now that Red Robin has canceled its plans to open a location in York Township, some folks have taken the opportunity to share the restaurants they would like to see open up.

After posting a link to our Red Robin story on Facebook, folks listed off some of their favorite franchises.

The top choices are:

Joe’s Crab Shack

Gino’s Burgers and Chicken

What do you think?

Some other popular choices were Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Steak ‘N Shake and the Cheesecake Factory. And a call for restaurants that use locally-sourced ingredients.

The land developers, Springwood Real Estate Services are currently pursuing leads for other restaurants to go in place of Red Robin, but no decisions have yet been made.

IHOP? Really? Residents of York should really take an hour and a half car trip in any direction and see what they’re missing. York city and the surrounding areas are so devoid of any quality chain/franchise type establishments. Elevation Burger, Fractured Prune, Ledo pizza(which did have a York location at one time), Bobby’s Burgers etc.. the list goes on. Sadly, what needs to be noted is that York county is rich with little known but excellent independent eateries that either people are unwilling or just too unadventurous to look beyond the mc’d, burger kings and red lobsters. Places like Big Lous BBQ, Primo Pizza Express or any of the outstanding independent locally owned spots at central market. Wake up York countians, turn off your TV and your radio and drive around and see what’s out there. I’m sure you can find 10 places to eat that are 10x better than any IHOP or Red Robin.
