Did WellSpan make you famous?

Usually, I don’t pay attention to TV commercials.

For the most part, they all appear similar and do little to convey the benefits or negatives of a particular product.

TV commercials are a signal to get up and grab a snack.

However, the other night, a commercial featuring WellSpan caught my attention. For one, I knew that the people dressed as guests at the wedding depicted in the commercial were from the local area.

Last month, scores of residents crowded flocked to St. Mathew’s Church in York not to find religion, but for a chance at small-screen fame.

On Aug. 20, WellSpan held an open casting call for members of the community to appear as extras in its series of commercials.

At the time, I tried to report on the series, but I didn’t get very far with access to the casting call.

Did you make cut? We’re you a WellSpan extra?

My church (St. Matthew Lutheran) announced there was going to be a commerical filmed there and they needed some “extras or fill-ins” Since I had just retired from St. Matthew in July, I thought why not, I have the time so I decided I would go see what it was all about. Well, I had the priledge of appearing in the Well Span TV commercial #4. It was interesting and exciting. I was totally shocked when I saw that I was actually in the commercial. You just never know if you will appear in it or not because there were many people there filling in as extras. An experience I will never forget. You also get to see how many times they retake a scene. Over and over and over again. It makes you realize what they go thru for television shows. This was very professionally done. Thank you Well Span and all the professionals for a job well done.

I received an email at work (I work on 7S at the hospital) asking for extras for Wellspans new commercial. I wasn’t schedule to work that day, so I thought I would sign up. I was asked to arrive around 7 am. It made for a long hot day. Well worth it. Much to my own surprise I can be seen in commercials #4 & #5. Would I do it again? You better believe I would.
