Your money: June 2009 Archives
As of noon Wednesday, 4,653 people have applied for jobs at Church & Dwight's new Arm & Hammer plant in Jackson Township, according to PA CareerLink York County.
Awhile ago I said I was watching a boat for sale along my route to work in West Manchester Township, simply to gauge whether the economy is making a turn for the better.
I saw two lookers so far, and a third appeared this morning, and got close enough to read the contact information. Maybe that boat will be purchased soon.
Full-time workers in the York-Hanover metropolitan area made $19.12 an hour, on average, in October 2008, according to a survey released Monday morning by the U.S. Department of Labor's bureau of labor statistics.
According to the bureau, registered nurses made $29.21 an hour, general office clerks made $14.50 and fast food and counter workers made $8.23, all averages.
Visit the bureau's Web site to see how your profession fared.
If you haven't yet stumbled onto The Exchange forums on our site, please do so. Lots of interesting discussions -- some good, some not so good.
Take a look at this back-and-forth on shopping locally.
Personally, I try to patronize those who give the best service.
