Book Madness

| | Comments (0)

While my husband watches basketball on television, my nose is in a book.

But now I’ve discovered that we literary types can get hyped with a March Madness of our own.

Just go to www.themorningnews.org and click on the Rooster logo for the 2008 Tournament of Books.

Sixteen books have been paired up and selected reviewers pick a winner. (For example, “Shining at the Bottom of the Sea” by Stephen Marche squared off with “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” by Junot Diaz. Judge Ted Genoways declared “Wondrous Life” the winner.)

Books will be eliminated until the Championship Round. There’s a downloadable bracket and you can even wager (for charity). The bets are $10 each and all the money goes to First Book.
