Allyson A.W. Lyga will show how comics foster literacy and model graphic-novel lessons connected to national and state standards at 7 p.m. May 15 at Dillsburg Area Public Library, 17 S. Baltimore St., in Dillsburg.

Lyga, author of "Graphic Novels in Your Media Center," teaches graduate courses in the graphic novel at the University of Delaware and McDaniel College. She is also a board member of "Kids Love Comics," which promotes child-safe comics for schools and libraries. A Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar in Japan, she studied Japanese graphic novels, or manga, to see how the Japanese learned from and loved them.

The program concludes the series Comics from the Classic to the Graphix, co-sponsored by the Northern York County School District.
