Book vs Movie

| | Comments (0)

My book Club is doing something different this month. We’re watching a movie! Now, being a book club, we also read the book, so don’t think we’re getting away with not reading this month.

The book we read was Then She Found Me, by Elinor Lipman. It was more chick lit than what we usually read, but you need a break every now and then, right? So tonight, we are gathering to watch the movie. Helen Hunt bought the rights to this book 10 years ago, and has been working since then to get the financing, actors, screenplay, etc-all that goes into making a movie. Now, the book was alright-but I don’t get why Helen Hunt was sooooooo excited about it to work 10 years to get a movie made. Plus, I understand that the movie isn’t faithful to the book-characters have been changed, circumstances have been altered. So why buy the movie rights if all you’re going to do is change the story? I’ll let you know what I think of the movie after I’ve seen it. It can’t be all bad-Colin Firth is in it!
