Readers prefer paper

Readers would rather curl up with a printed book than go online or read an e-book, a new Random House/Zogby poll finds.

Women (85%) are more likely than men (79%) to prefer the paper version. Books in other formats are more popular with those under 30 (13%) than those over 65 (6%).

(Now that we are on the subject, what happens when you drop your Kindle while soaking in the tub?)

This nifty little survey also found that most of us (77%) go to the bookstore with a particular purchase in mind and end up making unplanned book purchases. (Well, duh!!!! That’s why they make credit cards!)

The neatest question in the poll asks: if it’s 3 a.m. and the phone rings and the president asks you for a book recommendation, what are you going to say?

Well, what would you say?
