My first time

one for the money

I couldn't take the peer pressure any more. I succumbed. I gave in to desire.

No -- it's not what you're thinking. I'm talking about breaking down and finally reading the first Stephanie Plum mystery by Janet Evanovich -- "One For the Money."

For years friends have been raving to me about these books. How readable. How funny. I resisted. It's not that I felt that I was above reading them. It was more that of a child resisting a parents' wel l-- intentioned advice. I finally gave in.

Surprise, surprise -- the book was good. It was funny and also engaging as a mystery should be.

I'm not sure if I will read the rest of the series -- I believe she is now up to number 12; but for a summer weekend beside the pool, it was just the ticket.
