Science fiction writers, publishers visit York

Science fiction lovers may want to plan to spend the day at the York Emporium Aug. 1.

The used book store will hold its Sci-Fi Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 343 W. Market St., York.

Scheduled to appear are:

Stephen H. Segal, editor and creative director of Weird Tales magazine. He will discuss the magazine's history and talk about the events surrounding its 85th anniversary celebration.

Danielle Ackley-McPhail, author of "Tomorrow's Memories" and "Space Pirates" and editor of the "Bad-Ass Fairies" anthologies. She will talk about the writer's life and her upcoming projects.

Brian Koscienski and Chris Pisano, CEO and creative directors of Fortress Publishing, will sign copies of the just-published Issue 9 of "Trail of Indiscretion" and launch their latest work, "Scary Tales of Scariness. The launch, with a wine-and-cheese reception, will begin at 6 p.m.

Other event scheduled thorughout the day include presentations on 3D imagery, screenings of blooper reels, stand-up comedy, door prizes and the announcement of a local writing contest.
