Local writer Scott Butcher has authored his first coffee table book, "York: America's Historic Crossroads" (Schiffer Publishing). This is the first of three photo books that Butcher is doing. "Delaware Reflections," with 250 photos of the Delaware Coast from Lewes to Fenwick Island, will be released this spring.

"York" includes more than 300 color photos, with chapter introductions and photo captions that showcase York's history, from its founding in 1741 to today.

The book can be purchased, beginning next week, at the Museum Shops of the York County Heritage Trust, 250 East Market St. The book will also be available at Borders Books & Music and from amazon.com.

You can view many of the photos featured in the book -- as well as photos from the upcoming books on the Delaware Coast and Gettysburg -- at Butcher's photography site: www.scottbutcher.smugmug.com.

Butcher will give a presentation on York's historic architecture and sign books from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Agricultural & Industrial Museum. For details, go to www.yorkheritage.org.
