Red Land Community Library, 48 Robin Hood Drive, Etters, closed today for renovations and anticipates a reopening celebration in February.

Dairy Delights, an ice cream shop at 320 Newberry Commons, will host the library for limited hours and story times throughout the construction.

The library will have the following hours at Dairy Delights:

Mondays 6 to 8 p.m. Book/item pick-up and drop-off

Tuesdays 1 p.m. - Story time with ice cream

2 to 4 p.m. - Book/item pick-up and drop-off

Thursdays 1 p.m. - Story time with ice cream

2 to 4 p.m. - Book/item pick-up and drop-off

6 to 8 p.m. - Book/item pick-up and drop-off

Individuals may call any of the other York County Libraries to place a hold for pick-up at Red Land's alternate location in Dairy Delights. People are also welcome to place holds online at www.yorklibraries.org. Library staff will phone readers when their items are ready to pick-up. The drop box at the library will continue to operate throughout the construction.

Golenco, a division of Kinsley Construction, was awarded the contract and work is scheduled to begin in early December. Funding for the estimated $220,000 project is a collaborative effort of the Red Land Branch Support Group and York County Library System. Funds from a bequest of the Pauline G. Bamberger Estate provided $110,000 to the Branch Support Group on behalf of Red Land Community Library. York County Library System supplied the balance from designated facilities funds.
