I'm almost finished reading Twilight and I couldn't help comparing it to another vampire series called "The Vampire Diaries" by L.J. Smith.

There are a lot of similarities. "Diaries"
came before "Twilight" but I like the "Twilight" series better. The central female character is blonde and beautiful, while in "Twilight" the central female character is described as a beauty but a unique one and very intelligent, you won't get that from Elena in "Diaries." Elena is depicted as the typical popular girl in high school and of course the only guy who is not seemingly interested is the brooding outsider, Stefan....

Anyway, I don't want to give too much away, but I would definitely recommend reading both the "Vampire Diaries" and "Twilight" and then come to your own conclusion.

well i have read both series too, and honestly, i dont know which one is better. i love vampire love stories. i think vampires are unique beings and of course they exist. however, one thing about these books is that its almost always the same plot, theme, etc . there are always so many similarities. there is a pretty girl and is curious about the new comer in town, who seems mysterious and wears sunglasses all the time and doesn't eat the cafeteria food, etc. the girl finds out about the mysterious guy being a vampire, and since the girl doesn't care, they fall in love. trouble begins and evil interferes their relationship, usually a family member or one of the immortal's enemies. they fight the evil together, and the good guys win. bla bla bla.. they live happily ever after.. lol. you should also read the Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber.. thats good.. also Blue Bloods by Mellissa de la Cruz.. now THATS a good series.. i cant wait until the 3rd book, Revelations, come out.k. any vampire books you know about, write to me!!..haha

twilight is awesome !!!!!!....i havn`t read vapire diaries yet im planing to soon....wow..i hope its good b/c twilight i don`t think any1 could beet...
I think that vampire diaries is a great series. I fell in love with those books, I read them after twilight, however I know they were written in 1991.
I almost like them better then twilight, almost.
There are so many similarities I know but considering vampire diaries was written about ten years earlier than twilight..vampire diaries seems more original. Stephanie Meyers said it came to her in a dream but I'm not sure I believe that. I read alot of other books involving vampires and another series I encountered is the Marked (House of Night) series and if you read them you will see similarities in that series too, just little, simple things. I enjoyed all these books, mostly anything to do with a vampire romance. Anything you read with vampires, something is going to be similar to something else you have already read. That's just how it is.
I have read lots of vampire books, here they are:Twilight and saga, Blue Bloods and saga, Vampire Diaries, and Suck It Up. All great series, I even go to the same school as the daughter of the Blue Bloods auther and have the same name(Kathryn). I was told before reading Vam Diaries that Twilight was coping it, but I know that's not true. They may have simalarities but at stepheniemeyers.com she tells you how she came to the idea for Twilight(a dream, ha ha). All my friends call me Bella because I am clumsy, can't walk on a flat surphace with out tripping(even on grass,:{), bad at sports, hit in the head alot, and my middle name is Belle. I AM BELLA!! I LOOVE YOU EDWARD!!!
Another vampire series you guys might like is the Southern vampire series. Although it isn't about teenagers it does have a really great original plot line. HBO is doing a tv series on it called True Blood.
XDDD... there are so much simillarities in it. Although, in some sense, twilight has more humor in it while the vampire diaries on the other hand is more serious. BUT YES! They are in a LOT of ways SIMILLAR, and sometimes, it makes me think about the statement stephanie meyer had, that she has seen bella and edward in her dreams. Maybe, Lisa Jane Smith had the same dream, only with a little twitch... and had different names (Elena and Stefan)... However, twilight, Vampire diaries, Vampire Kisses and Vampire knight anre all hands down beautiful. There is no doubt about that. It's about vampires, I guess simillarities are inevitable
I first read Twilight before getting into Vampire Diaries and I noticed the similarities and thought "Was this ripped off?" And, to be honest, I like Vampire Diaries MUCH more than Twilight, why? Because it has better plot and there's no useless chattering. There's barely any plot in Twilight, there's nothing that is leading to the climax, whatever that was. At least with Vampire Diaries there was something that lead to the climax, the relationship between Elena and Stefan is more better than Edward and Bella. (Though after reading it again, I wanted Elena to be with Damon...) Elena is a strong character and she can hold out on her own, and Bella can't, to be honest, was there ever a time where she did hold out on her own when Eddykins did NOT save her? Elena can manage on her own, and she has for years and I don't see her trying to jump off a cliff to hear her ex's voice in her head. Stefan lets Elena be, he does not try to force Elena to stay with him only and not hang out with her friends, hell, he's even best friends with Elena's EX. This alone makes Stefan so much better than Edward Cullen, why? Edward takes out the engine in her truck, preventing her from seeing her friend who is less dangerous than Edward is. Stefan doesn't do that. He's not trying to put a leash on Elena.
TEAM DAMON! :D
I have yet to read the vampire diaries series so i can't compare the two.
I thought twilight was rather entertaining despite vampires that resembled the carebears more than actual cursed, man killing vampires.
having read the vampire chronicals from A. Rice I must say that that author had a better view of how vampires should think. ( ofcourse this remains my oponion ). Than again , Rice did go overboard in the books after " lestat" , with the plot getting weirder and weirder and - imho - less interesting to read. Still I would advise all to read the vampire chronicals if nothing else.
i think there both
great. i love vampires period
weather its books, movie or anything
else. of course they exist, i love these books
i dont care what anyone else think i know that there both great!!! :)
I have just finished with the vampire diaries. and I have to admit they were better than the twilight books for me. I agree with midnight. The plot was much more interesting.( a bit scary at times) I would certainly recommend reading them if you are a fan of twilight.
I prefer TWILIGHT but VD was great too.
TWILIGHT
EDWARD IS WAAYYY HHOTTER THEN STEFAN AND DAMON!!!!
I vote for vampire diaries. Even though Elena at beginning seems just a shallow high school brat, she ends up being stronger than Bella. I Agree with Midnight Rose when she says Elena can hold out on her on and yah I'd pick Stefan over Edward everyday of the week. I hope she picks Stefn. Damon annoys me. Than again I've only read the first vampire diaries book.
i think the vampire diaries is better. elana might be the popular girl but htat just adds to the story. in twilight bella has no charactor to her really she has nothing ot her except the whole eward thing
I saw then read twilight. Then, i read the vampire diaries. The love between the two books is infinite, and though there are similarities, there are also many differences.
It is dimwitted when people often say that the Vampire Diaries are a 'knock off' of Twilight, when in fact The Vampire Diaries was out before Twilight had been.
Both series are great, and that is what should be looked at, not that it is the classic tale of a human falling in love with a supernatural creature.
If a new series were to be written --with the same idea of love between a human and a vampire... the idea of forbidden love-- will any of you read it?
this question should not be taken in any offense, i am just curious. I want to have an understanding of whether ppl would just look at it and say, 'oh great another vampire love series', or say oh great! another vampire love series!.
twilight all the way vampire diaries are just copying it everyone is copying twilight lately. The vampire diaries suck and twilight is amazing :D
I read both series, and VD was way better than Twilight. Better plot, better characters, better couple, no sparkly vampires, etc.
By the way, I find it very annoying that people think that the vampire diaries are copying twilight. It's NOT. VD was published way before Twilight.
Well, i read the twilight series first; and i have to say; it disgusted me; it was okay; but terribly boring, and it was nothing compared to Vampire Diaries.
They have a lot of similarities; and people should know that the Vampire Diaries were published in the 90's so I'm very sure they aren't a knock off of Twilight. So, get your facts straight.
The Twilight series was one of the first books that I read; and somewhat liked. After that i decided to try more paranormal romance novels. Everyone was reading the Twilight Series so i believed it was a really good book; even though it fell flat on me.
I read Vampire Diaries and instantly fell in love with them. Much better than Twilight.
In the Twilight series Stephenie Meyer spends about a page describing how hot Edward looks =\ Then; its about how much Bella thinks shes ugly and how edward is so beautiful. Then; its those cheezy and ( Honestly ) boring make-out sessions where Bella faints =\
The plot for twilight series is non-existent. There is no climax; just broing old Bella talking about how ugly she is; and how beautiful Edward is. And very boring chatter. and sincerely Bella really pissed me off. Her character is so boring and so self-invovled that I flung my book across the room just hearing her explain how much she thinks edward is hot and how ugly and how she can't believe he chose her. OhHhHhH! AND THEN THERE JACOB. JESUS! She spends maybe 90% of her time with jacob just thinking of edward. HELLO! Stop hangign out with Jacob if your going to be drooling over Edward half the time in your head. And then she goes on and on...and on; talkign about how much she hates herself for hurting Jacob; and in the next paragraph we find her humping Edward and explaing how beautiful he is....UGHHHHH! SHUT THE HELL UP BELLA.
BULLSHiT.
Now; Vampire Diaries is where to start. Elena is a typical popular teenager. She is a little self--absorded but her charater grows so much in each book. She finds herself falling in love with Stefan; a Vampire and still loves him; even after his revelation of being [ Inhuman ]
The book keeps u capative and i must say- THE PLOT iS AMAZiNG. The book is always giving new twist. U keep wanting; and wanting more. Elena grows as a charater and is strong. She values herself and doesn't waste her time jumping off cliffs and trying to kill herself. Her and stefan have their hard times but in the end; love conquers all.
She's smart; wiser and strong than bella is soo many ways.
Stefan gives Elena her space; and their in love but they have their privacy and alone time. He doesn't hover; and sure as hell doesn't destroy her car just so she won't see her ex. Stefan is calm and very sweet. Edward is wayyyy over protective; doesn't give Bella space and sincerly; have the time he has to unhook bella from his leg. Elena is dependent. and Bella is co-dependent. If edward died; you'd find her at teh bottom of an ocean; Stefen died; you'd find Elena mouring but staying strong and alive; waiting until teh day comes that she sees her love again.
BELLA iS FRiCKEN ANNOYiNG.
Elena is interesting to listen too.
TEAM STEFAN!
In conclusion; BURN THOSE TWiLIGHT BOOKS; OR SHOVE THEM UP YOUR SiBLiNGS PANTS; AND GO FiND THE VAMPiRE DiARiES.

i loved them both. they are pretty similar in the whole vampire hot mysterious guy thing. but in twilight the girl (bella) is a lot more realistic then the girl in v.d. the girl in vampire dairies is like the prettiest girl you could possibly imagine so its hard to compare yourself to her. but other then that they are the same. i kinda like the twilight saga a little but but they were both extreme obsessions of mine.
okay.. ive read both series as well and i disagree with everything "midnight vampire' said
twilight to me was soooo much better.. and to alot of my friends the same.
the vampire diaries was a good book
but twilight just was better and more interesting...
both of the books r fantasies but the fact that twilight is 10000 moree realistic than vampire diaries makes it better...
vampire diaries has barely any thing to surprise me and that makes it boring. unlike twilight had a lot of new surprises and things u wouldnt expect to happen happened.
of course i also loved the fact that twilight
had not only vampires but it was half about vampires and half about werewolves
that really got me into it .. too see the conflicts bewteen the two over a girl.
a normal girl.. bella is more of a girl
people can relate to unlike elena.. shes more out there. and hard to relate.
and edward just is so much more loving then stefan. and edward and how jacob is a werewolf fighting for bella caught my attention because it was unique to put.. a vampire and a werewolf
( known as ennimies) to fight over the same girl (a human) and in the last book where bella has a baby and marries edward is a very happily ever after that i always enjoy.
but as for vampire diaries. it was a good book and all but the fact that it was MOSTLY all vampires. bored me. i love vampires but i like more than just that. and the ending to the last book did nothing for me .
soo this is my oppinion on the books. if u put one verses the other.. then TWILIGHT definitely would win .

Have you really read ALL of The Vampire Diaries, Sassy???
While, yes, Elena is the popular girl in school, the trend setter etc...She too is also very realistic. There ARE those popular girls in school, the ones you wish you could be like or simply hate...but she does exist.
There is also Werewolves in The Vampire Diaries, plus other paranormal/psychic/spiritual entities.
Since when have Vampire's sparkled in sunlight, and prior to SM writing about them, where in any folklore about vampires does it say "Vampires Sparkle in the Sunlight." - That is NOT realistic.
Elena IS a normal girl torn between two brothers who happen to be vampires, Stefan's love for Elena was a pure love, not just because he lusted after her scent. If you read Dark Reunion, he portrays his love as best as anyone (vampire or not) can. Edward treats Bella as if she knows nothing, yet Stefan understood that Elena was strong willed and confident.
Bella is a clichéd, over flawed girl who has way too much teen angst. Elena had a balance of all emotions. She had her flaws too, but with Bella, you had no choice but to read on, and on about her 'flaws'. At least with Elena, you found them out in a timely and realistic manner.
I've been a fan of The Vampire Diaries since they were published in 1991. In 20yrs, lets see how many Twilight fans will be around.
Okay, Sassy, I understand your point of view, about how its Non-realistic.
So, popular girls are unrealistic??
And anyways, did you read the Twilight properly? Because, in case you didn;t... Bella is quiet popular in the book. Not only did about 3 guys ask her out to the prom; but she had a bunch of friends. SO, technically, your dealing with Bella- a popular girl.
How can you relate to Bella? Bella just speaks about hwo ugly she is, yet you find numerous character asking her out... hmm... do hideous people get asked out a lot???
No.
Secondly; sparkles? LOL. Wth was Stephenie Meyer thinking?
Anyways; Vamps and werewolfs? HAVE YOU READ VD? Bcuz IF you did; then yoru aware Werewolfs are part of the story...
WELL; Its not Vamp. VS werewolf; Its brother Vs Brother.
Its much more intriguing than a dog; and an over protective vamp; who can't let his "gf" tlk to people without him hovering.
SECONDLY; Wth is up with Breaking Dawn? That must be the poorest excuse of a Final Installment of a series. I mean c'mon, WAS BREAKING DAWN REALISTIC? CUZ I FOUDN IT WAYYY FAR FETCHED. I think Stephenie has been inhaling to many marker fumes.
and tell me;
What is so interestign about Bella Swan? All she does is sullk in new moon; become a horny teen in eclipse... and has sex all the time in breaking dawn... has a daughter at 19....and beat lil Ole evil Aros.
OH GOSHH!!!
ughh. Boring. Please tell me intersting parts of Twilight, that won't make coffee go to sleep BEFORE, you calll Twilight Interesting...
Thanks for your opinion Sass
OH BTW SASSY; THE VD SERiES iSN'T OVER JUST YET;
DARK REUNION IS THE LAST BOOK;
THE NEXT BOK IS ALREADY OUT, THE RETURN: NIGHTFALL.
ONCE AGAIN, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
OHH... AND THERE ARE MORE TO COME. I THNK HER NXT IS SHADOW SOULS.
looks likee i will b doin alot of readin ! Twiliqht Saqaa +& Thee Vampiree Diaries !
but i reallyy loved dhaa Twiliqht moviee ! +& i likee Miaa frum Deqrassi so wee will c !
+& to b honest, even thouqh Thee Vampiree Diaries kamee out in dhaa 90's, they weree just books, its kindaa odd dhat now all of a sudden aftaa so lonq dey wannaa makee a TV show aftaa Twiliqht madee a moviee... hmmm
i've never read the vampire diaries before but I think I would like twilight better.... idk why its just I love twilight a lot and the vampire diaries.... idk
i've read both of the books...i've first seen twilight thought and then read it...i looove edward he is my prince!!!!! the only thing that annoys me a little bit is that he is so overprotective...i don't like bella thought she has no personality and the fact that likes jacob and kisses him makes me wanna punch her...twilight the book was ok i guess...i liked edward and his quotes were amazing he is so romantic! i also liked alice-so funny and carsisle! new moon sucked cause edward was not part of it and the cullens too...the fact that stephany meyer started to talk about jacob and bella annoyed me...it supposed to be a vampire-human love not werewolf-vampire-human...it is kind of silly...werewolf-vampire-human thing...eclipse was ok...but breaking dawn sucks!! stephany completely dissapointed me...she changed completely bella's personality making her from a shy,clumsy,self-centred simple girl to a powerful vampire who is more self-centred than before and also a horny teen...and jacob-reneesme thing tottaly annoyed me! that was so stupid!
for the TVD i have to say that i've read only the first book and wanna start the second one...so i will speak about the first one only...vampire diaries is more serious, dramatic and darker than twilight...there are scenes that are filled with darkness that drows you in...i also like the fact that we don't see the whole story only by the point of view of elena but of stefan's too...
as for the caracters...elena kind of annoys me cause she always seems to know everything and senses everything that's gonna happen..but at the same time she is cool,indipendent,strong...stefan is ok...he is so alone that makes me wanna hug him...but doesn't always manage to amaze me like edward does...Damon rocks! he is so hot! his darkness drows me in...there's such passion and darkness to him!!
bonnie, meredith and matt are really cool!
the only fact that i don't like is that elena thinks that she loves stefan and that he loves her too, that he wants to protect her and share his life with her[i am using actual words elena used in the awakening]from the first kiss...this is not normal...yeah i know damon amazed me from the first moment he talked to elena and tried to kiss her but only because i felt passion and longing for him...how can elena believe that stephan and her are meant to be together and that she can't live without him so quickly???in twilight bella and ed meet each other and talk about their lifes but here is not talking...no meeting each other just falling in love
in conclusion i think both books are cool to read...as for the caracters elena is better than bella, edward is better than stefan cause he is more romantic and he is like the prince from a fairytale...but stefan is way more realistic and he leaves elena to have her life...if i had to choose one of them as a boyfriend i would go for stefan for being romantic and amazing but still realistic but as a literature caracter edward is better
damon is waaaaaaay more amazing than jacob! he is sooooo hoooot and so bad boy!if edward and damon made war for my heart i would really don't know who to choose...hahaha
so guys don't argue and please stop saying that vampire diaries copied twiligh is was released in 1991 and please give it a chance and read it...i gave it that chance and really liked it..but my best friend stills thinks that twilight is better and refuses to read it...so bad for her! she has no clue what's damon and why i can't stop talking about him
HE IS FREAKING HOT!!!!!!!!!!
I won't lie to you here... I read Twilight before TVD and I loved it... I mean what grade 8 girl wouldn't? But after that, I read TVD and also loved it. Soon though I started to get tired of Twilight, just like everyone else I know...
Personally I think that Twilight is just a fad. It's like the Jonas Brothers (though I've always hated them). Pretty soon everyone will have moved on.
But TVD has been read and loved for over 15 years, and I don't see people getting tired of this series anytime soon.
Trust me here, folks! If you really think about what you're reading, you'll realize just as I did that TVD were absolutely way way better written, and way way more interesting. L.J. Smith seems to actually care about her characters whereas Stephenie Meyer seems to have started out caring about all of them in the first few books but Breaking Dawn was just a total disappointment and waste of my valuable time and money because it seems like SM just put the book together in a couple of months. Writing takes a lot of time and effort, and it just didn't seem like she put in as much as L.J. Smith.
And just to tell you all, The Vampire Diaries were published WAY before Twilight, so just stop arguing and read the publication details if you don't believe me!
Honestly, I read The Vampire Diaries back in high school, and Twilight seems to be a complete rip off of these books.
There is a very pointed difference between the two sagas and that is that L. J. Smith builds something in her books that Smeyer just can't - PLOT.
I agree with Trish here. The plot surrounding Elena in TVD, how she looks identical to Stefan's former love and how he and his brother are almost fighting over her, is actually not bad at all (and I'm a huge not-fan of these human-girl-meets-vampire-boy sagas that seem to be popping up everywhere nowadays). Stefan seems to have a personality that makes Edward's "oh god, don't look at me, I'm so dangerous" attitude look lame and boring.
Elena has flaws and is a realistic character - Bella is the perfect example of a "mary sue" which, as any of you clued in to the writing world will know, is a self-insert into a story where a character is the centre of every plot, everyone loves/hates them (or wants to eat them in this case), is completely helpless and clueless and clumsy and stupid, and has to be rescued by the hero at every single damn chapter. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Isabella Swann.
Smeyer's writing style is also a lot harder to choke down than L. J. Smith's, considering you have to deal with Edward's "swirling, mysterious pools of liquid gold, so warm and alluring" every time he does something with his eyes. L. J. Smith's style, as far as I remember, was descriptive but nowhere near as fluffy or revolting as Smeyer's.
I think, in all honesty, that the main difference between the two is that L. J. Smith has a firm grasp on what PLOT is, and Smeyer just doesn't. She's written an entire saga on uinrealistic, ridiculous foreplay between these two unbelievable, bland characters that never evolve and never learn from their mistakes and never grow up. It's actually painful to read. L. J. Smith has a plot built, she has reasons why people are acting the way they do, and yet people are ready to slam this book just because "Elena is popular and Bella isn't", or because "Stefan isn't as hot as Edward". Honestly, I suppose if we're dealing with seven and eighth graders, things like that are what make a good book, whereas the rest of us are more drawn to book with plots, character development, imagination and realism. (Let's look at the people on these sites defending Twilight - they tlk lik this omg edward is my heeerrrooo hes so sexxxxxxxxaaaiiiiii xxxxxxxxx - and have no concept of caps lock, punctuation or anything other than Edward's looks and wanting to be Bella. I guess the more frightening thing is that there are also adults who are smitten by these poor excuses for books.
Smeyer rushed her way through writing the books (and threw a temper tantrum when someone leaked one on the internet). She obviously wrote them about herself (Bella looks a LOT like Smeyer, anyone else notice this?) and some fantasy with a vampire where she's the centre of everyone's world, plus she has no grasp of character development or plot. The only reason these books are being published is because the publishers saw that adolescent girls would lap them up and they would make a lot of money off them, not because they are good quality or because she's a decent writer. Now, they're making TVD into a TV show to try and drag in some of that revenue from the lame teenage girl vampire fetish that seems to be sweeping the world in some kind of pathetic fad, which is sad because they weren't bad books.
I'm sure you've gathered by now that I'm not a huge fan of Twilight, and I'm sure I'm about to have a tonne of adolescent girls attack me for slating their darling Edward, but this is the POV of an actual writer dissecting the book as a critic. So bite me.

So bite me.
If you want a REALLY good vampire book, try reading a hard-to-locate copy of The Delicate Dependency by Michael Talbot. Way more substance than Twilight, The Vampire Diaries or even Ann Rice.
One reason I think that Twilight and The Vampire Diaries have similarities is that they are basically romance novels with vampirism thrown in. Boy meets girls, boy leaves girl, girl desperate for boy, etc. Fun, but fluff. Don't get me wrong, I DO enjoy them for what they are.
have read both books....... but the 1 i like best is..........TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!, cus twilight is so addicting, 1's u start reading it u cant stop.. dnt get me wrong vampire diaries was awesome 2.... but the way dey talk in twilight just make u blush cus its just so charming...and plus the reason y i like twilight betta is dat,in twilight Bella dnt think she is gud enough 4 Edward which i think every girl culd relate 2 in some kind of circumstances...... but in vampire diaries Eleena is just this pretty girl next door dat happens 2 fall in luv with a vampire... both stories where fantastic is just unfortunate dat i like one betta than the other.

The funny thing is that Since the Twilght movie hysteria....all these books are going to television..
I've almost finished the first VD book (have read the whole twilight series and love it) and i have to say that although both books are considered to be young adult/teen books, Twilight seems to have much more substance than VD. Reading VD makes me feel like I'm reading a Sweet Valley High book just with vampires added for characters.
ummm..... this is a hard one i read both of them and there so good.. i read twilight before the vampire diaries and at first it thought that the vampire diaries copied twilight al though i still loved it wasnt till the second book the i found out it came out 1991 before i was even born...but personally i was more into twilight all though i still love the vampire diaries... and i thinnk that the the author of the vampire diaries copied twilight cause on the last book which came out this feb. stefan leaves just like edward..still i think the newest book of vampire diaries wasnt as good as the first two... but im loving both twilight and the vampire diaries..
look losers. The Vampire Diaries is way better than this ugly Edward book so called "TOILLETTE"
I like The Vampire Diaries WAY more. I mean, I liked the first Twilight book, but, after that one, they were boring. Plus, Twilight seems like a Vampire Diaries knock off. I hate that!
helllllllllo! Twilight is so much better!
the vampire diaries is a crappy knock off of the amazing Twilight!
it's just a crime to compare shitty work to amazing art like twilight ...
Edward Cullen is the hottest vampire ever existed!
I have seen and read both Vampire Diaries and Twilight and for me VAMOIRE DAIRIES IS SO MUCH BETTER.
DAMON SALVATOR IS THE HOTTEST VAMP... A LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MY OPINON WILL NOT CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed reading both, but something about vampire diaries has drawn me to it more than twilight. Maybe its the fact that the twilight movie was horrible. I feel as if it did the books no justice and honestly ruined it for me whereas the new show Vampire Diaries is fantastic. I absolutely love watching it and cannot wait for new episodes to air.
Oh and lastly, to sara who said that vampire diaries is a "crappy knock off of twilight" you are completely mistake. If anything it would be the other way around because Vampire Diaries was written over nearly 15 years ago.

I havent read Vampire Diaries...but I did read Twilight and I have to say it may be my favorite book and series. What can i say? vampires AND sappy love story?! (:
I have watched Vampire Diaries on CW though..and I think its pretty great. There are somethings that I think go against the idea of a vampire...but i am a little prejudice over twilight. I just cant help myself. But what does bother me is that someone would compare Edward and Stefan. Whats there to compare?! They are both amazingly great and outstandingly beautiful, but as someone else has said on here, Elena should be with Damon...I mean how awesome would that be? The stories in my opinion are nothing alike. Yes there are similarities in vampires...but you guys vampires are one thing...they all are going to be the same.
ANYWAY I think everyone should read them all!!
By aoife on July 24, 2009 4:54 AM
twilight all the way vampire diaries are just copying it everyone is copying twilight lately. The vampire diaries suck and twilight is amazing :D
HAHAHA really you thnk so well guess what twilight-2005
vampire diaries-1991-92
HA VD came out a decade before twilight so whos copping who????????????????? HA VAMPIRE DIARIES ALL THE WAY=p
I agree with Midnight Rose!
I actually read Vampire Diaries first and then Twilight. I honestly couldn't relate at all to Bella's character. She seemed so weak and pathetic to me. The Twilight books didn't have much going on except for when Bella needed rescuing. Elena may be "popular" but she is strong and independent. I adore this new series on the CW because I enjoyed reading the Diaries so much.
And Damon is INDEED eviliciously hot. Yes please!
Twilight is better....first of all bella was made to be nice ands sweet.besides Elena cant make up her mind do you love stefen or not!!!!
edward is hotter than stefan and stephanie meyer is the best she has good creactivity.the book was awesome.of course bella needs help james bit her hand the venom is like burning her.and on top of that james was like beating her up.twilight is the best!!!TEAM EDWARD!!!!
I definitely agree with midnight and all those who support her, VD is way much mature, well crafted and developed, it really looks like something she was growing, creating and caring about, not just something that somebody came out from a dream (a dream she had after reading Vampired diaries, for sure, hahaha) But I also think that if you really enjoyed a book and it made you happy while you were reading it and makes you happy when you recall its reading that is enough for enyone. It is good enough that you guys are now READING something now that you enjoyed them that much, go and read Anne Rice, and Oscar Wilde and Tolkien and all of the great master of the gender who came before that and dont bother to compare just enjoy them.
I myself love Neil Gaiman and the Sandman series, what else can I tell you, but Im really fond of damon and how purely and deliciously evil he is, hehehe
I prefer The Vampire Diaries over Twilight any time.In The Vampire Diaries there is one thing know as a character development. I am not saying that Twilight sucks or anything, I just don't get it why is Edward way hotter than Stefan or, OMG, Damon????
i like the vampire diaries series better, it gets u hooked faster. i cant stop reading the books unlke twilight where i had to skip parts of the books i found not holding my interest. then i read vampire diaries and i could not put the book down, never a boring part. i luv them bolth but vampire diaries is more better to hold my interest.
Vampire Diaries is way better. While the story is less emotional and more compact, it's also less pretentious (Meyer obviously believes she's created the best love story ever) and better written; LJ's Smith style is definitely more polished and professional than Smeyer's. Elena is one of my favorite YA heroines so far, she's a popular girl which I LOVED, the YA heroines are always the dorky girls, and she's also very strong, confident and independent, ten times better than Bella. she's tough and truly brave, something bella is NOT no matter what twitards say. Edward is a condescending, patronizing jerk who treats Bella like crap and laughs at her and she stills pathetically drools over him and throws herself at his feet and faints whenever he enters the room(?). Whereas Stefan is a total sweety. He's a TRUE gentleman, he treats Elena like she deserves to be treated and loves her deeply and purely. When Elena died, he was willing to still keep on living because he loved her that much. He's also more believe as a character than Edward, who Meyer tried (unsuccesfully) to give Stefan's sweetness and vulnerability and Damon's evil charm and sexiness. Well, hello, Smeyer, those traits contradict each other! And she's not a good enough writer to mesh them in a way that works. Edward is a Gary Stu and he's made of fail.
Jacob was a good character (my favorite, by far), but unfortunately, Meyer obviously just used him to make Edward look better by comparison.
In Vampire Diaries, you have Stefan, who's an absolute sweetheart, and Damon, who is sexiness incarnated. Their characters may be stereotypical, but they're still deliciously described and well defined unlike Meyer's empty vessels/ciphers. LJ Smith never shows any bias towards any of the brothers- at least not that I saw- she wrote them objectively and did not try to make you love one or the other.
There is also more plot in VD than in twilight. =)
So, yes, Vampire Diaries is better than Twilight. This is not an opinion, it's a FACT. =D
I like Twilight more because I think bella is a better character for me than Elena. Elena is a typical high-school girl, very popular and beautiful. Bella isn't, she is clumsy and is different than other girls. Well, I can't refer myself to Elena but I can to Bella. That's why I like Twilight more. And, come on, Edward (Rob) is far more nicer than Stefan!!
Ok. For all those people comparing the two . . . you can't. For one, they are ALMOST completely different story lines. Since Stefan and Damon are brothers, and they are actually blood. They hate each other. The only similarities are the fact that Stefan is a vegetarian, Damon is a carnivore.
Elena Is nothing like Bella. At all. Elena is popular, yes, but she is more intelligent then Bella, because when she finds out that the guy is a fricken vampire, she gets scared, saying "Oh god no." over and over again, she nearly runs off a building trying to get away from him. while silly little Isabella Swan tries to kiss the fricken vamp, and says stuff like - "I don't care that your a mythical creature who kills humans. Kiss me, I love you, dson't leave me, stalk me in my bed when i'm asleep." she lets herself be stalked and doesn't care.
Please stop comparing the two. this is only a few of the many differences.
Ok. Tell me one way in which Edward is nicer then Stefan, Mipje. Stefan doesn't stalk the girl at night, and he gives her space. Stefan is a lot more cautious. And, every single book series nowadays, the female star is an average girl. Someone had to spice it up, it gets boring if they're average. Who wants to relate to someone plain?
Vampire Diaries is alot more funny as well. Twilight is completely series, except for Emmett Cullen, and Jacob Black(a bit)
vampire diaries is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than twilight. for one the main character elena isnt a big crybaby that cant do a single thing and just sits in a chair for ever filling sorry for herself just because a guy is gone bella on the other hand so annoying i mean really she makes us girls look bad kinda like we cant do anything without a guy holding our hand. Elena is dependent and caring....Another thing ppl say that its so stupid that elena is a popular beautiful girl but so is bella in the books alot of guys are wanting to date her but she doesnt feel like it. Vampire diaries has a much better story line and the characters are more real and actualy react in a way most ppl would where bella is just fine with the vampire thing and one more thing SPARKLING VAMPIRES??????????????REALLY that is the most retarded thing ive seen it made me laugh. so in conclusion vampire diaries much better
ok I read the twilight saga first and decided to check out vampire diaries because I started watching the series and learned that the books were hugely different. Quite frankly I'm not entirely sure why there's this huge vamp. diaries vs. twilight thing going on. I mean the plot is sooo different between the two books. The only similarities are: girl vamp. romance, vamp. trying to be good, and love triangle. Other than that I don't even see how comparing them makes sense. Stefan "tries" to be good, but fails. Elena thinks she can "heal him w/her love" and feeds him w/her blood, which quite frankly annoyed the crap out of me, but I guess is some peoples thing. Also, the whole lore of vampires is different. In Meyer's universe aside from the obvious sparkles vampires also can't just feed off a human and leave them alive. They either change them or kill them. I mean the differences list is so vast. I get too what some people have said about twilight being more realistic, ya know as far as vampire romance fantasy can be. SPOILER!!
Elena freakin becomes a vamp, dies, and then is magically reborn as if nothing happens? That's realistic how?
SPOILER END!
I personally prefer twilight, but its partly because I'm not a vampire lover, I didn't relate to Elena at all, her "healing love" made me want to vomit, and overall I just enjoy Meyer's writing style more.
I think the thing I'm most perplexed about is the war between which is better, its like comparing Tolkien and Lewis just because they wrote children's fantasy steeped in christian belief.
The vampire diaries is old and boring people talk to much on how stephanie meyer copied TVD.NO SHE DID NOT.shes a creative person with beautiful work and doesnt need some crappy storyline to copy off of.her series started off as a dream on june 2 2003.she made what is known as chapter 13 of the book.then steph went to match the peices together which made twilight.TVD sucks go back to the 90's.everyone i know loves twilight my entire school loves twilight including teachers.nothing can change my mind.if youre gonna make a book on vampires put romance not horror ok.twilight was much more romantic.TEAM EDWARD WAIT UNTIL ECLIPSE AND NEW MOON WAS AWESOME!!!
I am a huge fan of Twilight, but in many ways it is very similar to The Vampire Diaries. I think I prefer VD since, no offense to Meyer, the writing is better and less repetitive compared to Twilight, and to be completely honest, Bella bugs the crap out of me. The whole Twilight franchise is great, but VD is the best thing on TV right now too (aside from Glee!). Sooo addictive! =)
ok...so i used to be a big time twilight fan...but then i came across the TV series called the vampire diaries...and i loved it...it was actually more believable than twilight, and damon (ian TEAM DAMON
ok...so i used to be a big time twilight fan...but then i came across the TV series called the vampire diaries...and i loved it...it was actually more believable than twilight, and damon (ian TEAM DAMON

twilight was wrttenen in 2005 and the movie came out in 2008!
they could have made the gay vampire diries a series around 1994 but why do they pick now!!
bella is pretty and awesome she ends up becoming a vampire! and makes a half-human half-vmapire girl!
they have different story lines!
and TWILIGHT IS BETTER!
why did elena tight away slept with stefan????
what kind of a role model is that??
so what if bella went crazy and tired to kill her slef she was in love FOR REAL
AND I DONT GIVE A CRAP WHAT ANYONE SAIDS!!!!!
TWILIGHT IS BETTER!
With the Vampire Diaries The Series is alot better than the Books so you cant judge them buy the books.
Twilight is Rubbish besides to the Series of VD.

The funny thing is that Since the Twilght movie hysteria....all these books are going to television..
The thing is ...
When TV producers, etc came across all the "Twilight-hysteria" they thought like all self-absorbed, money hungry higher-ups do and made a little something we humans like to call "money" by re-creating and/or adapting such book series as The Vampire Diaries and True Blood to television which have been very well received on the teenage girl part not to mention their decrepit, geriatric mothers. :P
And in response to all pro-Twilight fans:
I, like all young girls of our contemporary society, started to read Twilight 2 years ago, just before the movie release and was "dazzled" shall we say? I was entirely Edward-mad until reading New Moon... I was Team Jacob all the way, it just wasn't funny... if you don't count being Team Jasper (Hale YES!)
So... unlike people here, I am comparing with the TV series of Vampire Diaries instead of the books.
Indeed, there are many many similarities;
- Bella and Elena are both dark haired beauties (if you can call Kristen Stewart so)
- Physical similarities between Edward and Stefan are uncanny
- Jacob and Damon both fighting for the taken lead female. The third point of the love triangles both series present
- Both Bella and Elena have psychic/witch best friends (Alice and Bonnie) and a self-obsessed friend (Jessica and Caroline)
- Neither of the love interest vamp boyfriends drink human blood
- Both include an evil vamp counterpart both named Vicky/Victoria.
But along with this comes the differences where TWilight comes off second best:
- Stefan's love for Elena was entirely pure and developed by getting to know her whereas Edward only felt the attraction because of her scent and his natural instincts to kill which interested him in her. It is the mystery of not being able to "read" her that draws him in.
- The plot includes a climax in every single episode which would be the equivalent to one in every chapter of Twilight. This clearly was not so on account of Bella taking up too much time and energy explaining the explicit details of every curve of her Eddy Weddy.
- Elena is dependent. Bella is co-dependent
- If Bella lost Edward, life after him would simply not exist (Wuthering Heights style) whereas if Elena lost Stefan there would be mourning and grieving but she would continue to exist.
- Elena is a strong character who can do her own thing. She won't brood if dangerous vamp is not near.
- Dangerous, blood sucking boyfriend is not nearly as creepy as dangerous blood sucking boyfriend who watches you while you sleep and has you knocked up and married by 19.
- Elena is a responsible, pro-life popular teen keen on experiencing life and everything that comes with it whereas Bella is knocked up and married by 19 fighting off evil wards with her invisible mind shield.
Don't get me wrong I loved the Twilight saga when first reading it (What teenage girl wouldn't?) And I'll continue to see the movies to the end in the cinemas. But eventually I have gotten tired of Twilight, just like everyone else who has come to their senses.
Twilight = biggest literary fail since.. well... I think it just may be the first.
Give me the eye-candy of Stefan and Damon Salvatore and the development of plot that VD provides any day.

i pick Vampire Diaries.
i'll admit it, i was obsessed with twilight, but then i took a break, i was busy with school, and i read other books. the movie came out, and i was DISAPPOINTED. i went back and read Twilight, and i didn't even get through Bella's description of Edward. i realized that she really is a very shallow character. she doesn't think past what she wants and her happiness, and nobody wants to read about edward's eyes every 2 seconds. everyone who loves twilight because "OHH MY EDWARD!!!! HE IS SOOOO SSEEXXAAYYYYYY!!!! I WANT A SPARKLY VAMPIRE BOYFRIEND!!!!!!!!!" just stop. you're drooling and making a fool out of yourself over a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. and if you're drooling over the movie, here's a little piece of information: that guy right there who's talking like he has a knife up his butt? that guy is ROBERT PATTINSON, not Edward Cullen.
Vampire diaries...it was written WAAYYYY before twilight, and has substance. Elena is her own person. she knows what she wants, but she won't put it before her friends. she won't give up on her life because of Stefan, in fact, she goes out of her way to make sure Stefan doesn't drive her away from Bonnie.
*****SPOILER*****
when Elena is separated from Stefan, she holds her head up and FIGHTS TO GET HIM BACK. she doesn't just sit around and cry and try to kill herself
******END SPOILER****
Elena doesn't cower behind others like Bella does. in fact, she throws herself in front of a complete stranger, and gets whipped, just to protect someone she didn't even know. also, the love triangle is different. Stefan loves Elena, and isnt just attracted to her out of hunger and curiosity. Damon's love for Elena, unlike Jacob's, did not stem from an immediate attraction. Jacob had a crush on Bella from day one, which i think is stupid. Damon tried to woo Elena because of a desire for revenge on his brother, and because her strength was a desirable characteristic in a vampire. his love for her grows after Elena starts to see the good in him, and understands him, understands his pain.
think about it. be rational. read both series thoroughly. if you can't see it, fine, you're entitled to your opinion, what can i do?
i'm speaking out of experience, and i'm probably the same age as most of you. just got out of middle school.
I just can't help feel sorry for those who would just pick Twilight's saga over a well written saga like The Vampire Diaries.
Those who think TVD gets boring and never has an exciting climax, seriously have never read more than the first book, in fact, I dare to say they've not even read the first one completely. So what if Elena is popular? Are you going to despite the whole saga just because she's described as a popular girl? That's a huge fail right there, Elena might be popular, but she's not that stupid popular girl you all might thought about, she tries to get what her wants and plans anything in order to get it, while Bella just cries over and says how ugly she is.
I started to believe that in order to 'LOVE' Twilight's saga, you must have no self esteem or just think your life sucks and no one understands you, no one but Edward.
I'm sorry if any of you get mad at me just because I started my comment like that, but I really don't care about what you think of me, in fact, I'm not even sorry.
Im With Twilight!!!! its so awesome and eclipse WAS SO AWESOME AND ALWAYS WILL BE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
TWILIGHT RULES!!! Stephenie meyer rocks!!!!!
team edward!
breaking dawn next year i cant wait!
nessie cullen on the way!1

VAMPIRE DIARIES
vampire diaries is way better twilight is just rainbows and bunnys to me like edward glitters in the sun light right? you know REAL vampires burn up and stuff I like REAL vampires i don't know about you but twilight SUCKS!!! yeah i read the books watch the movies but i would ppick vampire diaries over twilight any day and twilight COPYED vampire diaries and vampire diaries was out 14 years before twilight by the way then the twilight book came out so ummmm yeah.
OMG... vampire diaries.. is rlly better..the plot is nice.. more beter dan twilight.. i agree dat twiligh is also nice.. but i prefere vampire diaries :D ... goo vampire diaries. :P
oh my gosh!!!!! that is just a awesome dude.... i too agree but the point is that both of them are based on the theme of love and sex.. :) I think true blood and vampire diaries are more genuine to compare..
ok i havnt read the vanpire diaries and i dont ever want to it sucks s*** i love twighlite
I haven't read the Twilight series or The Vampire Diaries series. I've seen the TVD show, and I absolutely love it. I plan on reading the books soon. I don't care for Twilight. Since I haven't seen Twilight, I don't compare the two because it wouldn't be fair for me to judge. If people like Twilight, let 'em keep it. I'll take TVD any day. :)
P.S. I'm Team Damon all the way.
love u vampire diaries !!!!!
I like twilight. I have read all the books and seen all 3 films. Although the films aren't the worst in the world, compared to the books, they're crap! For one thing aside from rob, none of em can act! Now, I was browsing through iTunes one day and say that this vampire diaries series had a very high rating. I though lemme check it out; cause quite frankly, I was bored of this twilight mania!! I must admit when I watched the first episode, I was like aww it's like twilight BUT then I found out that tad was written in 1991. After carrying on watching it, I couldn't stop!! I watched 22 episodes in 2 days! The vampire diaries is captivating, engaging, exciting, exhilarating and since episode 1 it just always tops itself!! Everytime I watch an episode I think to myself, ok it can not get any better than that!! But NO they always prove me wrong! now TVD show vs Twilight movies? ok now this is a big joke; even the biggest twinsets know that the twilight movies are bullshit! But then lemme state some of the obvious: the actors on tbd (especially the yummy Ian somerhalder) can act!! Nina dobrev pulls off 2 characters at once: the sweet human innocent elena and the evil psycho vampire Katherine! Whereas kristen Stewart can't even play a boring character! Oh not to mention paul wesleys amazing portrayal of stefan; he's amazing... But I'm forever and always team Damon
what kind of question is that???
of course vampire diaries is better, its the best
how can you compare vampire diaries with twilight???????
AND
all of the cast in the vampire diaries are hot and perfect, and the hottest is ian(damon)he is amazing,
i love himmmmmmmm and i really love his character!
OK, anyone who says that Twilight sucks, should just SHUT UP!!! i mean come on!! I'm not saying that VD isn't awsom, but i LOVED TWILIGHT.
I agree that "Mrs. Bella Cullen" is VERY annoying how she is so gloomy and all (especially in the movie)BUT that doesn't mean that the whole story sucks.
I mean ofcorse Elena would be your model, but that is what makes Twilight better. I mean u don't have to be extrodinaly beautiful to get a Hot boyfriend. People should like u for who u are not just when people take one look at u and make up their minds.
T has some humor in it. I LOVE ALICE!!!! AND JACOB!!! Oh yeah and in the first book of VD. I really don't get how they get to love each other so much i mean they barley talk.
And the most things I enjoy in tw is the conversations.
I LOVE DAMON!! I LOVE HIS EVILSNESS
All in all i think TWILIGHT ROCKS!! but i still love VD. :)
PS: GET A GRIP GUYS there only books evry one has his opinon. OK FINE I SHOULDN'T BE angry at the twilight haters. SORRY :(
BUT U R STILL WRONG!!! :)
I've read Twilight saga and Im almost through with Vamp Diaries. I don't agree with people about saying that Bella's caracter is weaker than Elena. Elena is shallow, and so is her caracter. Stephany Meyer is a brilliant writer. And one has too keep in mind that perhaps Edward is more protective of Bella, because she actually stays human for a much longer time than Elena??
Also, the two books are very diffrent in aspect that Twilight is totally not written for blood and gore. It's a modern time Romeo and Juliet. Not a Dark power evil trip. You can't compare them because they have simularities but that is were it ends. Stefan is a shallow caracter because he is simply not discribed. So he is dark with green hair and he eats animals. That is about all the info you get for at least the first two books. There si nothing else there. The writer just doesn't give you info. The book is about twist and turns and what ever evil thing is after them. Elena stays self absorbent and shallow and Im almost done with book book 4.
So if you like blood and gore and all things dark, I guess VDR would be your fav. If you are romantic, Twilight will always kick ass.
And even though she spends pages writing over what they feel and look like, at least the caracters are real. You KNOW them when you put the book down.
Twilight. Always. Stephany you rock.
Okay. First off, I completely agree with EVERYTHING Midnight Rose and Midnight Vampire said.
If I'm being honest, I read Twilight first, and I loved it. I really liked the whole relationship between Edward, Bella, and Jacob. Now, of course, I was blinded by the hotness of Robert and Taylor XD
But, after reading Vampire Diaries (which a friend suggested to me) I realized how many shortcomings the Twilight Saga has. I have never, in my life, seen any single word in one book SO many times. I get it. Bella gets embarrased SO easily. But I don't need to know every time she feels "chagrin", for god's sake.
I can't help but feel that Stephenie took some of her 'dreamt' ideas from L.J. The Vampire Diaries is an extremely well-written book and the plot is fantastic, whereas in Twilight, a plot is virtually nonexistent. Stephenie spends all her time having Bella fawn over Edward's looks and dwell on her so-called 'ugliness and clumsiness'.
The Vampire Diaries has so many different aspects to it, with twists around every corner.
!!!***SPOILER ALERT ON THE RETURN: MIDNIGHT***!!!
Damon, ever since I got back into reading TVD, has been my favorite character, with his dark, brooding looks, hilarious sarcasm, and warring good and evil. I was so shocked when I read Midnight and Damon was killed. I honestly sobbed for a half an hour. Pathetic, right? ;) But anyway, I was almost in denial. Damon CAN'T be dead! Elena wouldn't be Elena without Damon trying to take her from Stefan. Part of me sincerely wished Elena would choose Damon. There is no doubt in my mind that, in the event that Elena would choose him, she would bring out the better side in him, and not be his Princess of Darkness, but his Princess of Light.
Anyway, if I had to choose, Vampire Diaries would win by a LARGE margin. No offense to all Twilight fans, because I still like Twilight (even though the first movie was butchered, thank you, Catherine Hardwicke). The fact remains that L.J. Smith is a much better author, has more experience, and more understanding as to what a vampire is. Not a sparkly, mood-changing, psychic fairy princess. Stefan and Damon, Klaus and Katherine are truly vicious beings, even though Stefan feeds mostly on animals.
By the way, SHINICHI AND MISAO, if you're out there, YOU'RE GOIN DOWN! No one messes with Damon and gets away with it! Haha, now I'm getting carried away :}
Also, L.J. Smith, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write another book! You can't leave a cliffhanger like you did at the end of Midnight!!! :)

First of all, I must stress that, I am not a TVD nor twilight Saga fan. I have read the Twilight Saga and the first two books of TVD and personally, I think the Twilight Saga comes off a little bit more superior than TVD does, especially in the way it is written. Of course, TVD has its own strengths like the way it merges traditional ideas of how vampires are (fangs, anti-sunlight, anti-running water, stakes-thru-the-heart), maybe due to its being written 20 years ago. Stephenie Meyer however had a fresh outlook on the vampire world, something uncommon, fantastical, and that is what sets the Twilight Saga apart from the rest of the typical vampire stories we've heard of. Simply put, why do you think a set of considerably new 'story' books were an immediate success and before you know it were a phenomenon on the BIG screen? But if it is the characters you are talking about, books wise, Elena honestly comes off as, as Quest put it, shallow. She seems to think too much of herself, especially in the first book. Stefan only managed to get under her skin because he never glanced her way. WHAT?! What if he did though, makes me wonder. So Midnight Vampire, I think Bella, although a clutz undeniably dumb at times, she comes off as a better character because she seems to have her priorities right. Although she begins to have a bit more obsession over Edward than I would like, she always considers those around her, especially her family. At this point of my reading TVD, I see that all Elena ever thinks about is...well, herself. Again, I stress, I'm not a TVD nor Twilight Saga fan so on another note, as a general reader, I think the Twilight Saga is creative and TVD diaries is more...real.
I read the twilight series first and i was obsessed!! i absolutely loved it. then i read breaking dawn the last book and i was like WTH!! I MEAN SERIOUSLY!! it was mainly about bella and edward having sex. it was PATHETIC. the end was a tiny bit interesting but not much. i only thought this about breaking dawn tho.
But then my friend told my about vampire diaries and i was speechless. vd was romantic but yet thriller. i was not now only obsessed but addicted. i love how there are wolves but it is not the same old battle between wolf and vampire. it is between brother and brother. that makes it so cool!! elena may be the shallow popular girl but compared to bella, who i think is weak and pathetic character, elena is wayyyy better. and elena is not always shallow she gets better and stronger throughout the books.
I don't think twilight sucks(only breaking dawn) but vampire diaries is way better, much more exciting and interesting.

Ok lets get one thing straight, Elena in The Vampire Dairies book is blond and in the show she is brown. Okay had to say that. The show The Vampire Dairies in my opinion is better then the books, but I still like the books. The Vampire Diaries is much more realistic then Twilight. Many old myths occur in The Vampire Diaries then in Twilight. In Twilight no myths occur.
I used to
You know the movie Vampire's Suck? Well in my opinion that is way better then Twilight.
Now onto the Twilight werewolves. They can change whenever they want is the big issue. They're supposed to be able to only change on full moons! Nice going Stephanie Meyer changing all the old myths. Twilight is basically a bunch of retarded "vampires" with stupid powers running around like they're important. Then the baby that's just not freakken possible! Damn Twilight. Ha! Let the paper shredder shred my copies of the books!
Now again in Twilight every one loves Bella just like everyone loves Elena in The Vampire Diaries. But I don't get how you think Bella's so damn unique!? Big whoops she got knocked up by her pathetic, ugly vampire boyfreind. At least not every one is drooling over Stefan and Damon Salvator in The Vampire Diaries! So pathetic... I mean really there's nothing to compare, The Vampire Diaries is obviously better then freakken Twilight! Then Edward has to go and try to kill himself because he thinks Bella's dead, god it makes me wanna puke. Taylor, Robert, and Kristian are all ugly to me.
SO THE VAMPIRE DIARIES ROCK
Wanna know the way Twilight should of ended? With Edward being ripped apart and thrown into a fire. Take that sissy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
