Connie Sprenkle's latest children's book, "Christmas Pajamas," was inspired by a well-loved family tradition.

When Sprenkle was a child, her mother made her a special pair of pajamas that she could wear all day Christmas day. Last year, she continued the tradition by buying matching pajamas for herself and her two grandsons.

And this year, she shares the custom in a book for children from birth to age 9. She also is selling handcrafted pajamas and a nightgown just like those pictured in the book.

"Children need more (on Christmas Day) than just opening gifts," Sprenkle said. "It's a nice tradition that I remember from my childhood. People read the book and say 'we used to do that.'"

Sprenkle, of West Manchester Township, has a seamstress in Florida stitching the pajamas and nightgown from Christmas-plaid flannel. They will not all be made from the same plaid pictured in the book. They sell for $25 each, and the supply will be limited.

"Christmas Pajamas" is $8.49 for the softcover and $17.99 for the hardcover. The book can be purchased at Borders Books & Music in Springettsbury Township and amazon.com. The book and the nightwear can be ordered from the author by calling 880-4411.
