A cup of tea and a good book

quentins.jpgThat's what I need to get through the long, cold days of winter.

I just finished "Quentins" by Maeve Binchy and it was just the thing for the after-Christmas letdown and the cold chill of January.

This was a typical Binchy book, filled with characters, some we've met in previous novels, some new to the fold. It was set in Dublin at a restaurant named Quentins, and it tells the story of the customers who frequent the place and of those who keep it running.

There's no need for deep thinking here, take the book at face value. Character development is minimal and you can tell how it's going to end long before you read the last chapter. Still . . . it was just the ticket for this time of year. Sometimes I need a break from the titles on the "recommended" lists, and this was it.
